Supporting small businesses has always been important to me, and if you have been following me for a bit, you know I love to give shout outs from time to time to some of my favorite small businesses! With it being International Women’s Day, I thought it would be a good time to share about my birthday day trip up to Lakewood, OH that I took and spent the day supporting small women-owned businesses and loving every bit of it!
Lakewood is one of my favorite places to spend a day. It is nestled close to Cleveland along Lake Erie. There are a ton of cute little shops and some amazing eateries as well! The first stop on this trip was Fear’s Confections. Fear’s Confections is a woman-owned business that serves up handmade confections, many in which have a geeky flair! They also host events from time to time. You can order things like a chocolate chess set and find things like Star Wars shaped chocolates. No matter what you get, they are all delicious! Also, the owner is super awesome!
After visiting there, we walked through some antique stores and headed to lunch at Thai Thai. Thai Thai serves delicious Bangkok street food and is also women-owned. They also have the most amazing and creative bubble teas.
The service is great, and the bubble tea made me so super happy! They even have events where they do really wild bubble tea flavors. Most recently, they did a mermaid one. I am really hoping to get to one of the events late this spring!
I finished out the day by heading to Retro Rosie because…well..why wouldn’t I? Retro Rosie carries vintage inspired and pin up clothing. I have gotten some gorgeous pin up dresses there, and the owner is just an amazing person that I am so happy to have met this past year. She carries Lindy Bop and Unique Vintage, just to name a few of the brands you can find there. Oh, and the best part is that she carries sizes for just about everybody! It is one of my favorite places to shop.
I had a fabulous day, and I felt good knowing that my birthday trip was spent supporting women-owned businesses. It is important to support one another. What is your favorite woman-owned business? I would love to hear about all the women owned businesses you support!
