A Phipps Conservatory Plus Size Fashion Story: Transitional Wear
This time of year is when I love to use a lot of transitional fashion pieces. I decided to show them off on a trip to the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, which is a perfect place for a date or day trip by the way. Today I will be sharing about the transitional plus size fashion pieces you can still use during that weather between the end of winter and a full spring bloom.
As you can see, I am back to accessorizing with chunky belts again. I love the hourglass figure it gives me, and it adds a bit of sophistication to a plain tunic. My secret to my growing chunky belt collection is the Torrid Clearance rack. Every time they have a big sale, I always end up with at least one more. They are super cute and last a long time!
Since this is transitional wear, I paired the outfit with a cute fur vest that I found at Rue 21 a long time ago. It gives warmth on those days where you don’t want to wear a coat, but it still isn’t that warm. My favorite times to wear fur vests are between Feb and the beginning of April and then again in October-November.
Transitional Must Haves
Since I am wearing fun colorful leggings, I added some colorful accessories like my necklace and rainbow bows from Hot Topic. If you like wearing alternative hair accessories, Hot Topic is still my go to place for them. If you watch for sales, you can usually get some good deals too!
My knee high boots are still ready to go on an adventure, but I have put the heavy duty ones away. I like having some simple sturdy black ones though that won’t ruin with a bit of mud. They go great with leggings and skirts. These ones came from Torrid. I like Torrid’s boots as they are usually the most comfortable. My other favorite boots, if you want a more alternative style, are ones from Demonia. The only issue I have with the Torrid ones is that sometimes the calf area is a bit too wide.
The key to looking cute this time of year is dressing with light layers. I have all my spring pastel cardigans ready for layering, and I also have all my cute denim jackets too. I have a mix of light, long-sleeved shirts and sleeveless shirts that I can wear with a cardigan. You don’t want anything too heavy as the weather starts to get warmer, but you don’t want to go out without some type of jacket. Jackets and cardigans are so fun anyways, and I love excuses to wear them.
