*As a Brand Ambassador for Adore Box, I receive a free box every month, but all opinions are my own! As an adult, getting mail becomes less fun than it was when I was a kid. Most of the time, I just get bills…or stuff for the people who owned our home before we did. …

I love beauty boxes, don’t you? The newest to my collection is the Adore Box! The Adore Box starts at $15 a month and also includes a monthly, bi-monthly, and a quarterly plan. You get beauty products, hair care, skin care, and more! Here is what came in my box this month:
This month I got:
- Estee Lauder’s Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Foam Cleanser Purifying Mask
- Lancome Juicy Tubes
- Summer’s Eve Simply Coconut Water Cleansing Cloths
- Philosophy Take a Breath Oil Free Oxygenating Gel Cream
- Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Tint Eyebrow Gel
I love that it was a nice mix of personal hygiene items, makeup, and skin care. The sizes were great as some of them were full size products, which makes it really worth the price.
If you would like to try Adore Box, I have an exclusive code for my readers to use to get half off their first box. Just use code: HALFOFF when ordering at www.adorebox.com

If you are a makeup hoarder like me, you are always on the look out for deals and ways to get the newest looks and best colors and products for the season. This was how I got started on beauty boxes. The Boxycharm box is the newest box to my collection, so I thought I would share my first box details with you, as well as thoughts.
I love getting beauty boxes. However, they can be pricey, so I am very picky about which ones I choose. Currently, I am only getting two regularly. I narrowed it down to my Sephora box and now this one. I really like this one, and here is why:
This box runs about $21 a month, less if you subscribe in increments of 3 or 6 months. This is my most expensive box I have done, but it is also one of the most worthwhile. You get 4-5 full size products in each box! The brows and the eye shadow palette saved me a trip to Ulta or Sephora. They aren’t drugstore makeup companies either! (not that there is anything wrong with drugstore makeup, but if I am paying $21 for a box, they better not be.)
The only thing that made me a little sad was that my palette came with a few scuffs, and the mirror was cracked. Other than that, everything was perfect. Also the shadow colors go perfectly with a lot of my outfits for the summer, especially all my florals. I have been wearing this palette non-stop.
This box is really worth the value. I just got my May box while we were on vacation, so I am getting ready to go through it. I got the three month subscription and plan on continuing it after I get this month’s. You get a lot for the price, and it is all stuff I am going to use anyways.
I hope you found this review helpful. Do you get this box? If so, how do you think it stacks up? Please let me know in the thoughts below.
Since I know a lot of women get intimidated by makeup, I thought I would write another post on makeup basics, including a selfie that shows this is pretty much every day stuff!
I actually spent a bit of time on my face today and was playing up my eyes a bit. For this, I used Revolution Cosmetics’ Unicorns Unite pallette. Then I used my ELF Cosmetics eyeliner with Ulta Mascara. I used ELF brow liner as well.
For my face, I started with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness. This product is UH-MAZ-ING! My skintone is slightly uneven, and this helps make my complexion better. I also picked up another NYX Cosmetics Wonderstick. I can contour, but most days, I do not have time to do a great job. On quick days, I use this. It shows some basic instructions on the box and is dual sided. It is great for beginners and lasts all day for me. I highly recommend having one in your makeup kit.
I used Wet and Wild blush today and finished everything off with Ulta high shine gloss in the color Zelda. It looks way better in person, but here is an idea of the finished product:
It took me less than ten minutes to do this, and while my selfie does not do it justice, it actually turned out pretty good. You do not need a lot of products to look good. I do not contour every day. Sometimes, I just do foundation and blush. I hope you found this helpful. Remember, makeup is fun! You don’t have to look like a runway model, and start with a little and build up to it!
As you may have noticed by now, one of my many talents is trying to look put together without actually spending a lot of time doing so. I am the Diva On the Go, you could say. One thing that does usually take time to do is my hair. I do wear a bun a lot, and I put a flower in it for rockabilly flair or a funky headband for boho chic. However, I love to have curl to my hair, but I don’t usually have time to curl it. Also, I hate wearing curlers to bed. My mom used to make me wear the plastic ones when I was a kid…you know, the kind where you get poked a million times by the hair clips while they are being put on your head. I love my mom, but seriously, I hate those rollers. I loathe them. I despise them! So I was so happy when I found a new solution, a headband curler!
I admit the first time I saw one of these, I thought it was hokey and that it may end up in the back of my drawer where all the other things that look cool but don’t work end up. I was pleasantly surprised! It was very easy to do, and it was comfortable for sleeping too, unlike many other rollers. When I took it out the next day, I had cute curls that stayed with me the whole day!
Basically, you put on the headband and roll the hair into it while your hair is wet. I let mine stay overnight. It took about two minutes to put my hair into the headband. It was that simple.
The GlamWaves headband comes in two sizes: short to medium length hair and medium to long length hair. My hair stayed curly all day, and if you have hard to curl hair like me, you know what a big deal that is.
In my mind, this purchase was a success. Not only can I get cute curls, but I can actually make my hair look cute in just a couple minutes. I did my makeup and hair, and I was out the door in about five minutes or so! Not bad at all!
So if you are looking for a painless way to curl your hair, or if you are a novice and looking for an easy way to have cute hair, check the headband out! If you have tried this, I would love to hear your thoughts about it as well! Until next time!

This week, I have not had a lot of time to do makeup. If you follow me on Instagram, you will know I do a lot of five minute makeup days. They are not glamorous like pin up makeup days or regular makeup days. However, five minute makeup days are great for those days where you don’t want to go out looking like a complete bum but don’t have time to do something complex.
For these days, I focus on eyes and add a bright color for lips. For the lips, I used a simple moisturizing lipstick from E.L.F. Cosmetics. E.L.F. is one of my big go tos for most things as you may be aware from past posts. It has a drugstore price point, but it lasts. I admit that I splurge on foundation. However, I can get most everything else I need from them.
With my eyes, I like to use my eye liner to accentuate. However, you don’t need to go overboard, like I did in my selfie above. You can actually achieve a cute look with just a bit of blended liner on the top of your lids. Add mascara, and you are finished!
As I say with makeup in general, the point is to have fun. Whether you have 45 minutes or 5, make it fun! Also, if you are a novice, still just have fun and practice. That is one of the reasons I talk about makeup in 5 and under so much. I think a lot of people get scared off from doing makeup because they think it needs to be over the top. In all actuality, it is whatever you make of it. It also takes practice. I still have days where I look like a clown. I just wipe it off and start again, or if I don’t have the time, I cover it up the best I can. Makeup should always be fun and a way to express yourself!
Contouring is the thing now, but when you look at some of the You Tube videos and tutorials, it can seem a bit intimidating. I have been trying my own luck at contouring lately, and I have been reading up on what to do and what to use. Some make up experts swear on powder forms. I tried that. I didn’t like it so much. So, this weekend while I was out picking up some last minute supplies for Easter (Okay, so I was stockpiling Cadbury eggs for me. Yeah. I admit it), I made my way over to the cosmetic section at Walmart and picked up the Wet and Wild Contouring Stick along with a few eye crayons, some HD powder, and some eye make up remover.
I don’t usually use Wet and Wild, but I had a limited selection, and it was cheap. I figured that if I didn’t like it, at least I wasn’t out more than a few bucks. Side note on the rest of my haul: the HD Powder is the freaking bomb! It doesn’t make much of a mess, and it really looks great. Anyways, on the back of the Contour Stick packaging is a tutorial on how to use it. I just followed that, and I don’t think my makeup turned out too bad for my first time with it as you can see below.
I know I need more practice, but still it isn’t bad. I may try another one later, but I am trying to be a bit conservative in my spending for the time being, and I am happy with this one. I have been using it for 4 days now, and I haven’t broken out, which is also a plus.
So if you are a newbie to contouring, you might want to try the Wet and Wild Contouring stick. It gives you a good place to start, instructions, and it is less than $5 bucks. In my opinion, it is a win all the way around!
