Last summer, Lane Bryant came out with some awesome Pride themed merchandise. While I couldn’t snag all I wanted because it sold out quickly, I managed to get a hold of the bra and two different panties. The bra has been sitting in my dresser waiting to be used for a photo shoot for a while, but I just couldn’t figure out how I wanted to use it. Recently, I did a photo shoot at Better, A Studio for You with Loving Your Reflection and decided last-minute to change my Anti-Valentine theme originally planned to a Love is Love theme instead.

For this shoot, I went a little soft and a little punk. I used a pettiskirt from Lindy Bop with my Lane Bryant bra, rainbow knee-high socks, and one of my many pairs of combat style boots. (Yes, I have a little bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to combat style boots.) I pushed myself out of my comfort zone for this. Usually, I tend to be cutesy or sexy in my photo shoots. I did not go into this with that intention.

When I was eighteen, I got bored at work one night and wrote a several page manifesto on how I thought Valentine’s Day was a bunch of bs and overly commercialized. I still think that. However, being a part of the queer community, (Yes, I am still queer even though I did marry a dude. It happens) I really want to use my platform as a model/blogger/ influencer to promote that Love is Love, and that whether you are straight or part of the LGBTQIA+ community, your love is valid. So I dubbed myself for the day the “Fat, Queer Goddess of Love.” I am thinking I am taking that title for everything now!

These photos were just fun, and I hope that shows throughout this set. If you follow me on Instagram, (if you don’t, do it now.) I used these photos to discuss self-love, following your dreams, and not being afraid to step out of the box. These are all very important topics this year, and one of my biggest challenges to myself this year is to push myself to keep stepping outside of my box and seeing myself as fierce…always.

I encourage you all to keep stepping out of your box and challenging yourself. Also, don’t be afraid to be you…because you are awesome!

I admire you and glad that you challenge the rest of us to not fall for the stigma that mainstream media and Hollywood has put on women. Although it has been better than the way it was. Thank you.
