Bucket List: Agora Theater with Apocalyptica

With everything that has been going on with me the last few years, I haven’t been living my best life, you could say. Actually, the past year, I got really depressed before finding out all that is wrong with me. I have made a decision this spring that I cannot live that way anymore, and if there is anything I have learned from having some scary health events the past few years, it is that we need to live our lives to the fullest.

I created a bucket list. Some of it is really simple…such as silly date ideas or attending festivals and fairs again. Others are going to take time, such as seeing all of my favorite bands. Apocalyptica is one of them…okay, so they kinda ARE my favorite band. I discovered them as a teenager and have been obsessed with this Finnish dream team ever since. Getting to see them in concert, however, has not always been the easiest. I lucked out and saw them some years back at Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown, PA. It was an amazing show! You had people who were tweens…all the way to old people! I was pretty far back though and really wanted an opportunity to see them up close.

When you go to a concert, you gotta look the part! AC/DC dress by Torrid.

Their Metallica tour this year gave me that opportunity. They played at the Agora Theater at the end of May, and I got my chance to see them super close. I was right up to the stage! It was ah-maz-ing! Seriously, the stuff these guys can do with a cello is just astounding. They can put them over their heads and play. They can make them sound like heavy metal. These guys are super talented!

The Agora Theater is a pretty nice smaller venue. They have parking in the back of the theater, which granted, we had to walk to the front. However, it beats trying to find another place to park. The area has plenty of security, and it was really well-organized. As someone who also suffers from anxiety, the whole experience was quite pleasant. I loved it!

I have been adding to my bucket list all summer, and I cannot wait to share with you all some of the other things I have been doing like other concerts and festivals I have attended. To be honest, I feel like it is giving me back my youth! I think everyone should have a bucket list. It doesn’t even have to be things you will accomplish this year or even next. However, it gives you things to look forward to doing. We all need goals!

What are some of the things on your bucket list? Who is your favorite band? Please feel free to share with me in the comments below. Also, if you know someone who could really use a post like this, be sure to share it too!

How to Find Plus Size Fan Girl Fashion

Five years ago, I made a very conscious decision to purge my wardrobe and start fresh. Granted, I wore trendy clothes, but to be honest, they just did not fit who I am. It was like I settled for mom gear and forgot my own sense of style. Needless to say, I had no idea where to start.
Where to find Plus Size Fan Girl Fashion
While I started wearing more pin up and rockabilly style apparel, I also liked showing off my geek side. While Hot Topic does not carry a lot of plus size in their stores (and I want to say for the record that I think they should), they carry a pretty extensive line on their website. I get some of my cosplay starter dresses there when they have clearance sales because sometimes it makes it cheaper to go that route than to make it myself, but you can read more about that on another post. They carry a lot of tee shirts for various fandoms, as well as dresses and accessories. The R2D2 purse featured here was purchased there.
I also find a lot of fun pieces at Torrid. As you probably know, if you follow me on Instagram, I wear a lot of clothes from Torrid. In store, they carry a lot of tee shirts, sweaters, pants, and all that jazz. They also have been known to carry underwear and bralettes too in certain fandoms, like Star Wars. Plus, you can get some super cute purses as well. I have even gotten Disney themed flats there. However, if you go online, they have wayyyyy more! That is how I got the Star Wars romper. I love this romper by the way. It is super cute, and it fits pretty true to size. The nice thing about Torrid is that they carry clothing from size 10 to 30.
Probably one of the most extensive places to find fan girl clothes though is at Her Universe. Her Universe is an online store that caters to fandoms. The only drawback is that it only goes to a 3x, and it is a bit small. They carry everything from sleepwear to pin up style dresses in your favorite fandoms. Super cute stuff!
These are my favorite places to shop for my geekier clothes. I love showing off my love of Star Wars, Doctor Who, comic books, and Disney characters. The fact that I look super cute while doing it is a plus.
For this particular look featured in this post, I wore a Star Wars romper from Torrid with a R2-D2 purse from Hot Topic. My hat and sandals are thrifted from Clothes Mentor. I wore this for a day out with the mister, but where would you wear an outfit like this?

Fresh Produce Fashion at Youngstown Farmer's Market

One of my favorite things about summer is all the fresh produce! I love to pick it. I love to eat it, and I love to support local farms! That is why I was super excited to visit the Youngstown Farmer’s Market!
The Youngstown Farmer’s Market is on the second Wednesday of the summer months and showcases some wonderful produce by local farmers. One of my besties and I loaded up our bags and hit the place late morning. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, a lot of the farmers were sold out! On the upside, I got some wonderful greens and some delicious strawberries. This month, we decided we would hit it early!

While the weather has been a bit warmer than I like, I did find this cute jumpsuit by Rainbow on sale and just had to wear it for the occasion! I absolutely love jumpsuits, and I am super excited how many stores feature plus size options for them. Just to mention a few: Torrid, Rainbow, and Rue 21 all carry some super cute options!
Lemon Jumpsuit
While I am known to usually add a belt to accent the waist of a lot of my jumpsuits and rompers, I left this one as is because I thought the sash was just perfect. I paired it with a pair of gold sandals and a necklace. It was super comfortable and actually airy for the warm weather.
Light jumpsuits are a great option for the hot weather, and no matter what size you are, you ABSOLUTELY CAN wear them. You can pair them with belts, vests, or jackets, or you can leave them as is like I did with this one here. A cute necklace and a pair of shoes, and you are ready for a night out or a day walking along the beach!
What is one of your favorite new trends right now? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Don’t forget to share if you liked this post!

Women-Owned Spotlight

Rhinestoning with DeVille Rhinestones

If you have ever done costuming…whether it is dance, cosplay, burlesque, or anything else, you absolutely need rhinestones! That is why I am super excited to share about the fabulous woman who owns DeVille Rhinestones for this installment of my women owned spotlight!
DEVILLE Rhinestones

Who is DeVille Rhinestones?

DeVille Rhinestones is owned by plus size model and burlesque performer, Noella DeVille. Her business began almost two years ago when she realized that she was already spending so much money on rhinestones for her own costumes and that her friends were already buying and borrowing from her personal stock. It just made sense to start selling them!
What sets DeVille Rhinestones apart from other rhinestone sellers is that she primarily sells resin stones. This offers a more affordable option for people, like her, that like to cover all their costumes in rhinestones. Resin stones offer that sparkle but are also light-weight! This helps in costuming because the costumes really pop, but they are not too heavy to wear.
As her business grows, she plans to add some other products to her shop in the future. One of her most recent additions is enamel pins. She loves designing them, and they are great little accessories!

Where to find your rhinestones?

You can find DeVille Rhinestones online at and Currently, she is offering 15% off with code BBBF.
You can also follow her on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr.

Smile while posing

Photo by Victor Devilbliss. MUAH by Making Faces Professional Makeup

When I see this picture, it always makes me smile. I know it is partly because of how much fun I had that day, but I think it is because I love my smile in this. I got the face spot on! One thing that I have learned through modeling is that your smile is really important.
Pin up is fun and while it can be sensual, it is also whimsical. I forget that sometimes and do not focus on my smile. I notice that I have this problem in photos in general. I forget to smile. I am so focused on how I look that I forget to have fun too.
If you are new to pin up or maybe just need a reminder in this, don’t forget to smile! It lights up the picture!
